Our Services - Yuk Wah Chinese Independent School

Chinese School provides learning opportunities for Chinese children, from six years upwards, and adults who want to learn. There are twelve classes, graded from kindergarten to GCSE level. English classes are also held, and a creche is provided, for those parents who want to study when their children are learning Chinese. Over the past year, two hundred and seventy-six students attended classes, clearly demonstrating the popularity of the school. The principle reason for this popularity must be related to the school's philosophy.

There are two main components to the school's doctrine. The first is that the teachers should endeavour to employ teaching methods which will be most effective in meeting the learning needs of the students, and the second is that there should be a close relationship between parents and teachers, so that there is a profound understanding of the learning conditions of the pupils. One way of achieving this understanding is by establishing direct contact between teachers and parents through holding regular Parents' Days. On a typical Parents' Day at the Chinese Independent School, the pupils' work is displayed and videos of events held over the year are shown.

The school has held various activities throughout the past year, including Christmas celebrations, for example, the performance programme include Karaoke sessions, as well as displays of more traditional dancing and singing, and performances of different musical instruments. More recently, students were encouraged to develop a greater interest in writing and learning, because of the Chinese Writing Competition.
